History of Alands Accountants

1950-51

After the end of World War II, Richard (Dick) William Aland, having returned from active service with the RAAF in England, studied accountancy part time at the University of Queensland. He qualified as an Associate in Accountancy of the University of Queensland in 1950. Dick worked in the Brisbane Gas Company before accepting an accountancy position in Mackay in mid 1950. He left Mackay in July 1951 to accept a position in Dalby with accountant, Eric Hockings.

1954-64

Dick purchased Eric Hockings' practice in 1954. Later he went into partnership with Jack Sinclair and Mick Battle until 1964, when he became a sole practitioner once again.


1968

Brian Tucker started working for Dick in October 1968. They formed a partnership, RW Aland & Co in 1973. They acquired three further practices in Dalby from Mick Battle, Max Marlowe and Doug Basterfield.

1979

Graham Aland worked in Brisbane and the United Kingdom before returning to Dalby. He was admitted to the RW Aland & Co partnership in 1979.

1989

Dick retired from the partnership in 1989, however, continued to work as a consultant for RW Aland & Co until 1992.


1998

Brian Tucker and Graham Aland continued in partnership until October 1998 when Graham moved his family to Brisbane and started Alands Accountants.


2005

In October 2005, Alands Accountants acquired the practice of Peter Heaslop Rural Accounting Services and expanded its services in rural and regional Queensland.


2008

After completing his Commerce Degree at the University of Southern Queensland in 1996, Dan Sheahan worked in various commercial accounting positions in London before returning to Brisbane in January 2000. Dan commenced work as an employee of Alands Accountants in April 2000, and was invited into partnership with Graham Aland in October 2008.

2016

From the age of 15 Stephanie Aland started working at Alands Accountants in administration and worked her way through to a full time accounting position upon the completion of her Business Degree from QUT in 2007. In July 2016 Stephanie was invited to form a partnership with Dan Sheahan by acquiring her father's equity interest in Alands Accountants.

2019

In November 2019, Alands Accountants merged with the practice of Jon Carr and expanded its commercial business services in Brisbane.
